After a
recent visit to
China
, Dr.
Chen was profoundly moved by the energy and hope of the people of
China
for this landmark event. As an artist who has spent over half a century
creating a body of work that reflects the achievements of humanity and hope for
a world family in peace, he saw an opportunity to contribute his vision of global
harmony onto this momentous event. He cleared his busy schedule and set up a
studio in
Beijing
to paint. Chen plans on creating 66 masterpieces for this Series, to
commemorate the 29th Summer Olympic Games in August 2008.

Dr. T.F. Chen initiated his signature style
of “Neo-Iconography” in 1969, which appropriates “icons” from throughout human
and art history -- placing them together in contexts that defy time, space, and
cultural barriers; resulting in a stunning, eclectic composition. How fitting for such a historic,
international event!
Dr. Chen is also known as the “Centennial Artist,” and has painted
several 100-painting tributes to many of his inspirations on the occasion of
their Centennials – such as “The Spirit
of
Liberty
Series,” “Post – Van Gogh Series,” and “
Jade
Mountain
Series.” These
powerful, large-scale series have shown in museums around the world and been
featured extensively in the media.
As a “world citizen,” Dr. Chen
once again picks up his brush and embraces the challenge of creating a series
of paintings in homage to the 29th Summer Olympic Games in
Beijing
this August.
Chen
shows permanently at his
Cultural
Center
in SoHo, NYC; and at the Hong Yuan Bldg in 798
Art
District
,
Beijing
; and at the Gallery New World,
Taipei
