Artist-painter, art historian, writer, philosopher, founder of T. F. Chen Cultural Center

Designated "Cultural Ambassador for Tolerance and Peace" by Friends of the United Nations

Taiwanese-born American artist

Lived in Paris for twelve years, attended L'école des Beaux-Arts for seven years


Ph.D in art history and M.A. in French contemporary literature from the Sorbonne, Paris

In 1969, established his "Five-Dimensional Universal Culture" in theory, initiated "Neo-Iconography" in paintings

In 1975, moved to USA, married; lectured, created and exhibited extensively

In 1984, moved to NYC and permanently displayed his works at Lucia Gallery in SoHo

In 1986, finished 100 paintings of "The Spirit of Liberty Series," which received an enthusiastic public response, exhibited intensively in Asia, Europe, and the USA. Enjoyed mass coverage on TV, art magazines, and newspapers

In 1990, finished 100 paintings of "The Post -Van Gogh Series" for Van Gogh's Centennial, which exhibited extensively in Amsterdam, Taiwan, and the USA. Other series include:"East and West," "Space Age," "Humanity," "Venus," "Cardplayers," "Collectors," "Napoleon," "Post-Matisse," "Post-Picasso," "Jade Mountain," etc.

In 1993, Chen's Retrospective Exhibition (150 artworks) was exhibited at HsingKwang Mitsukoshi Cultural Hall, Taipei

In 1996 - 1997, Dr. T. F. Chen's Retrospective: 1951-1996 (160 artworks) exhibited in NYC, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and Kaoshiong

In 1998, Dr. Chen was invited to exhibit his "Humanity Series" and speak at the State of the World Forum, a gathering of over 800 key world leaders in the fields of business, science, politics, and the humanities

In 2001, Dr. Chen, the first artist-painter to receive a "Global Tolerance Award" from the United Nations

In 2000-2002, "Jade Mountain Peace & Love Series" tours Taiwan with mass media coverage.

Has had more than 100 one-man shows since 1963 all over the world.

Since 1996, works permanently displayed at the New World Art Center, SoHo, NYC; and Gallery New World, Taipei.

Works collected by a wide public, as well as the Museum of Modern Art, Paris; the Smithsonian Institute; the White House, USA; the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, etc.
